Tomatoes For The Gallbladder

integrate older

In October 1999 opened the commemoration of the United Nations Year of Older Persons, under the theme "A society for all ages." It worked for which parts of a society with a "design for all", create and produce thinking about all the people and take into account the specific needs and difficulties of all those who do not have all the capacity, autonomy and physical ability mental or sensory are assumed normal. A design that should be adopted in all areas of daily life, public and private.

But this "design for all" should be, above all, a philosophy based on equal rights for all people. It should also include prior consultation with potential users, since it is they who are best placed to identify their needs and difficulties and limitations that are found.

Respect, care and affection are the three basic principles in relation to our elders. Respecting your time psychophysical your own pace, its values \u200b\u200band concepts, their behavior, their desires and inclinations, their own living arrangements. This does not mean always agreeing with them and things should tell where is the line between what these disagreements affect the lives of non-elderly. Consensus is the most desirable formula. However, seniors have the right to choose how they live, for meddling and imposing our criteria amounts to an abuse of power and lack of respect for their freedom.

Elder care will be provided from a listener open, positive and non-judgmental or prejudice. This focus implies a commitment of time to hear how it is that person more, how they live, what they want, what they like, how they perceive their memories and experiences. This attitude is very different to "hear the grandfather's war stories." Listening to you speak is human, and is tinged with appreciation, consideration, closeness and support.

Already in the last of the three above principles, the love we have to provide the greatest in large doses, because at this age is valued more than ever, the affection, the sensitivity that we often escape the bondage that we show to the seriousness , work, the sacred concept of duty, prejudice, shyness and embarrassment. But we do not refer to a fussy baby or absorbed, but rather that affection is transmitted through this interest in what happens to our elders, respect, listening, the time commitment ... and that translates into our actions, our eyes, our warm tone when addressing them. And why not, the love expressed by the caress: the hand that settles, pressing, gripping, the distance melts hug and kiss that makes you feel that you are not alone and that they are loved and valued .
